4 Strategies for Redesigning Your Kitchen

We have prepared some strategies for you to follow when you want to redesign your kitchen, so read on to find out more!

Getting started on any home improvement project can often feel overwhelming. Luckily, this endeavor doesn’t need to be as daunting as you might think. All it takes is some inspiration. We have prepared some strategies for you to follow when you want to redesign your kitchen, so read on to find out more!

Go Ergonomic

If you are willing to make your home office as ergonomic as possible, why wouldn’t you do the same for your kitchen? The more efficient your redesigned kitchen is, the better you will feel when you are working in there. The work triangle is the most important part of the kitchen, so think about how the sink, the oven, and the fridge are placed with respect to one another.

Think about Foot Traffic

One of the best ways to redesign your kitchen is to expand it. For this to work, though, you will need to think about foot traffic. How many people are members of your household? Let this be your guiding question, along with how many guests you plan on hosting later this year in the summer and fall. Keep the stove away from the back door, space out the appliances, and put the pantry where it makes the most sense. In other words, put the pantry close to where you enter the house after coming home from the store. You can also incorporate an island into your kitchen’s new layout, but make sure it doesn’t block the refrigerator, oven, or presents a sharp corner for someone to bump into as they walk past it.

Consider the Long Term

Be sure to consider the long term viability of your kitchen’s new look. Counters, floors, and backsplashes all need to be as durable as possible, especially if you plan on spending even more time in your kitchen once the renovation is complete!

Add More Storage

A small kitchen can often be cramped and overcrowded. This situation becomes even more unbearable when there is an immediate need to get rid of clutter that makes you want to spend less time in the kitchen. Cleanup doesn’t have to be a chore when you add more storage! Try using overhead pot racks and pegboards. Push back the walls and find where the wall studs are located. You’ll have somewhere to display your wine collection, along with storage for cookbooks, serving plates, and baking sheets, which means they won’t take up valuable counter space when you need somewhere to prep your next amazing meal!
